At one time or another we have all been through difficult and testing times. It still amazes me that, although very few people want to repeat those experiences, there are many who say they are glad they faced them. The reason?
We can always learn something from the dark times.
Today sees my guest-post published on Jackie Bledsoe’s website. He is a writer and speaker with a mission to help men “lead and love the ones who matter most”. I was chuffed to be invited to write for his blog, but what should I write?
I decided to write about an experience I had been through last year. It wasn’t a pleasant one; it was one of those dark times.
I was living with excessive stress. Although it’s a cliché, I had to live one day at a time. Each morning at the family breakfast table I prayed like never before for the strength to make it through the day. I learned to listen to what my body was telling me. I learned to talk more about what I was feeling.
In the dark times we learn out limits, our dependence on others and on God.
We are not made to live in isolation. We need community; to live with others who celebrate good times with us and help us through the tough times. However stress affects you, a friend will love you and accept you as you are. But, they will not be content to leave you there.
Are you living with stress? Are you isolated? Decide to get help now.
Remember; you must look after yourself in order to lead and love your family well.
