Ulcerative Colitis

Ulcerative Colitis is one of the two main forms of Inflammatory Bowel Disease, the other being Crohn’s Disease. A person with UC will experience inflammation and ulceration of their large intestine (colon) and rectum. Often the ulceration will result in the lining of the bowel producing a great deal of pus, and even bleeding.

If you know someone that’s lived with UC for any period of time you’ll probably know that the side effects of UC are not pleasant. However, like many other internal conditions, it’s often a hidden disease. People can’t see anything physically wrong with the sufferer; if they’re observant they may just be aware of more frequent, and hurried visits to the toilets.

I have a particular interest in people affected by UC and for one simple reason; I too have suffered with UC. Click on the links below to find out more.

My Story – read a brief overview of my story and know that there is hope following a UC diagnosis.

UC Support – Can I help support you during your UC journey?

The book – There are more people diagnosed with UC than I could ever help on a one-to-one basis, so I’ve written the book I wish I’d had to read when I was first diagnosed.
